Harry Potter 6: Snape Kills Dumbledore–Normally I warn about spoilers but if you haven’t heard that spoiler back in 2005, or haven’t read the book in the mean time, how much could you possibly care? Please send hate mail to me regarding this if it ruined your movie going experience; I’d love to cannibalize your horrible misfortune into a comic. I saw the movie last Thursday. I’m not a big Potter fan, I read the first book, I did not enjoy it. People say they get better. I’m sure they do, I just can’t do a seven book journey when I don’t like the over all premise of the main characters.
All of that out in the open, I really liked this last Harry Potter Movie. It felt like a really movie instead of watching cliff’s notes with special effects (granted the last one was ok too, but the films 1 thru 4 were pretty much trash.). I only had one major issue with the film: Apparently the editor forgot to leave the explanation of why the subtitle matters in the fucking movie. Spoilers ahoy: When Snape finally reveals himself as a bad dude, he states that he’s the Half Blood Prince from Harry’s text book. But we don’t know why this is and if we’re supposed to care, we don’t. If everyone’s willing to change the title of the movie to Harry Potter and Snape Kills Dumbledore I’ll give this one a solid “B”.

You are going to have to hear about Jon’s pedo story from yesterday at kfc. Freakin’ great.
I like the people lined up in the background all dressed up for the showing haha.
If I was a pedophile, I would have been like a kid in a candy store yesterday. And I have to agree with you Matt, the title didn’t seem to matter at all. Great movie though. Very funny considering how tragic the main story was supposed to be.
Yeah, I liked the second movie, and the rest have been floating by since in my opinion. I didn’t like the first book either, or as I like to call it – Hogwarts Introduction to the Fantasy World Inept. I read the second book of the series first and it was good. The other books are good as well, I just despise any sort of “This is what a wizard is” BS.
Couple of major minuses for this film for me.
1) who gives a shit about that half blood prince? The one character that did explain why giving a shit who the half blood prince is, in the book Ginny – Ron’s little sister, didn’t even state the obvious(having almost been killed by some magic book in the second story) in the film. BTW, the symbol of feminism and “Boys are Dumb” stereotype enforcement, Hermione, does explain why Snape called himself the half blood prince.
2.) that really fugly bad guy at the weasley house, yeah the creepy looking one that just kinda stood there. Well, he was supposed to be a werewolf. Kinda important considering that werewolves are extremely discriminated against in the potterverse.
3.) really? should i care that snape killed dumbledore? the only person that seemed to care is that nutjob potter. Everyone else was like “Another day in wizardverse”.
4.) all the good parts that really really really made you hate snape throught the book where he was being a dick to people were omitted from the film. Really. C’mon. Lets just hope that memory of him being kind of a dick in the previous movies is good enough. Seriously, theres one scene in the book where he’s talking to Tonks and antagonizing her cause of her s/o’s refusal to marry. I mean, Come on, give us a better reason for disliking him other than bailing out Malfoy just like he had for the past 5 films.
@bob that sounds pretty horrible.
@Jon Even more horrible
@Smith You’ve just destroyed my blog with the magnitude of your epic sized post.
Haven’t peeped the flick yet, but I liked all of the books except for the last two (they weren’t bad, but the premise has gotten tired, I believe). I think you guys would’ve done a better job with it.
I may rent this one. By the time its on DVD all information I just read about will be lost in a sea of Mountain Dew and Pizza Rolls.
