When I was a wee lad, I was always building things.  I think with the advent of so much media, movies, television, video games, and the all mighty internet, sometimes we forget to create.  This comic has been a great experience/reminder of that.  Being that I do most of the writing and very little if any drawing on the comic, I still crave getting out there and doing something with my hands.  Don’t worry I won’t be butchering turtles like that son of a bitch Don.

I used to make marble tracks out of Pop Tart Boxes and paper towel rolls cut into fourths.  Around Christmas time there was sweet ass wrapping paper card board tubes to be had–that is if I could stand gluing/taping one to something, before I bludgeoned sibling or friend until it broke in half.  I remember building bases out of cardboard for my Ninja Turtle and Xmen figures, I had Skeletor’s Snake Mountain that could accommodate super villain meetings, but the good guys needed safe haven too.  I was very keen on their base having a work out bench and a rope ladder.  My grandmother crafted the rope ladder out of some yarn for me.  I made the weights and benches out of cardboard.    Looking back this was an exceptionally gay part of my childhood.

I do some occasional graphical work on the site I made our logo.  I made the Lake Placid poster in our Kill Betty Vol 1 comic.  I also designed the background for the new site we’re working on for the comic.  This has been fun, but I’m looking for a hands on project of some kind.  Not sure what I’m after but I’ll keep you posted if I start something.  I figure it’ll be something more adult/geeky.  Although I don’t know if it gets more geeky than super hero bases with weight benches.  Although I recommend the creation process to anyone out there, it just feels good to take on a project now and again.  Accomplishment, especially if you have a monotonous day job, is like Brawndo for the soul.
