I don’t really have much in the way of explaining this strip, Mortimer the Brontosaurus explained things far better than I could.
Instead I’ll talk some more about Conan. As someone who writes comedically twice a week it’s hard watching one of your idols getting screwed. Not the majority of people I talk to, but some have said he just doesn’t fit at that time slot, that he was “better at 12:30.” I don’t really think those people were watching at 12:30. Fun facts for the Conan uninitiated: Conan wrote for SNL during it’s last great cast period, during the Sandler, Farley, Hartman Era. He wrote The Simpsons when they were in there golden age up to and including the Monorail episode. He was on his little Late Night show for 17 years. I think the guy’s paid his dues. If you haven’t been watching Conan these last couple of weeks you’ve been missing out. The last two weeks when looked back in tonight show history will probably be looked back upon as the best shows in Tonight Show History. Also you missed Sandler dropping the C bomb on national television last night and the Bugatti Veyron Mouse. NBC’s taking the Tonight Show from Conan. I wish someone would take the Tonight Show away from NBC.

Im with coco as well. I've never found jay leno to be funny. I definitely hope there is some leno backlash and no one watches his show. I would like to say that i would boycott but i never watched it to begin with. Untill conan comes back i guess i got dust off the ol' larry sanders tapes. (yes tapes)
I loved the divorce gun episode. It's just what comedy is about.
You may need to watch another network for Coco or good ol' youtube. It's not Leno's fault that he's getting ratings that make NBC want to keep him. This ain't about taking sides of who's funnier, its business. Don't get your heads wrapped around it too much. There are people who read the strip that prefer Leno that prefer not to jump on board the conan bashing train, so please keep it to just "Hey I like conan"

It'd be funnier if it weren't true. As it stands it's just sad. Mostly for Pat Morita. Being the side kick in a Jay Leno vehicle. The Karate Kid promised him so much and delivered so little.
Jay is funny if you're under 9 or over 60. So lame how NBC didn't honor their contract.
Anyone can enjoy both comedians from all age groups, it really depends on your taste. I'm not under 9 and i'm not over 60, but I still enjoy Leno's humor.
Yes, NBC is very lame. Maybe no one should watch the network altogether? You catch the latest Heroes episode? Good god they're keeping the "Lesbian" story going…
I trust that Mortimer will become a reoccurring character.
I think theres potential for all characters coming back, maybe not the candy clown… okay maybe even candy clown.
30~ Million dollars. Yes, poor Conan O'brian… Come on! Why are people making such a big deal out of this? It doesn't matter what clown NBC places on it's shows. He or she will be well supported by a group of talented writers, time makes people forget, and life will go on.

I really doubt it's about the money for anyone but NBC. Comparing Leno's writers to Conan's is comparing apples and oranges. One is about breaking new ground and the other is about just getting by. And when it comes down to it, I'll make an effort to watch Conan, but I won't for Leno. Hopefully Conan will land somewhere else fairly quickly.
Also Tmz cares, they care what color his poop is day to day.
