They care about the general population of the world enough to build a working gadget that requires no training or learning curve. You know, people that aren't elitist computer using tech junkies? People like your grandma and my kids? Pretty much 75% of the entire population. You fail to realize that computer savvy people only make up a tiny percentage of the world. Look at the Wii. Everyone bashed it. Everyone said it would fail. Everyone said it would NOT sell. Now looky! Parents, girlfriends, grandparents, little iddy biddy teeny boppers, they all either have or want one. I imagine trying to hold it and use it as a book/magazine will be an ergonomic nightmare. And typing on it on it you'll either have to lay it in your lap while reclining (where your fat gut will be in the way/do the typing for you.) or you lay it on the table and crane your neck to look at what you're doing.
