Swashbuckling Sea Dogs

Ever get that feeling that you should try new things? Sometimes “new” things can be surprisingly awesome and other times it can be a terrible, terrible idea. I’m more of the mentality that new things should be experienced, to help you learn and grow. These experiences help you to make decisions in life, like when not to run after that ball in the street during heavy traffic time or when not to throw eggs at houses when your neighbor is outside watering their lawn (unless you run much faster). If its an experience that probably won’t threaten your life, you’ll probably be safe trying it at least once (I’m not talkin’ about anal, but if you were thinkin’ it…). Go out of your comfort zone at least once in all aspects of your life, but in moderation. “Moderation” is the key, even if it was a “bad” experience just a little bit of the challenge/situation probably won’t have an extreme impact that would send you to the hospital.

Try the exotic food, but don’t swallow everything (unless you’re into that… I haven’t tasted it but I’m pretty sure its sweet like the candy I eat). Go watch a hockey game, you may find something almost as exciting/interesting as a football game (not soccer, you janky brits). Listen to some Rap or Country, or even the oldies, it may make your ears bleed but you can honestly say you don’t like that kind of genre. Take a dance class or try yoga, even if you’re totally beat I’m pretty sure there will be something worth the effort. Ripping one in any of the classes during the silent moments could be embarrassing, but if you’re only gonna be there once anyway then who cares. I got a good chuckle after getting a good whiff of that deadly cloud and the look on people’s faces as it diffused through the class. (I haven’t been back, but the memory of their faces… priceless).

Good luck on trying new things. If you haven’t tried anything new, what kinds of experiences would you like to try if you weren’t set on not trying anything new? If you have gone out and been adventurous, what was it and what was your experience like?
